Active Ageing
“Active ageing is the process of optimizing opportunities for health, participation and security in order to enhance quality of life as people age”. (WHO, 1999)
Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC) Department of Human Services NSW commenced the Active Ageing program in 2009 and to meet the needs of 55-64 year olds with a disability, moderate to very high support needs and not already participating in an ADHC funded program. The program gives clients the opportunity to realise their potential for physical, social and mental health wellbeing and participate actively in the community. Active Ageing aims to smooth the transition of participants to aged care.
Castle recognises the rights of older people to independence, participation, dignity, care and self-fulfilment. Our flexible program takes a person-centred approach to planning activities that allow them to participate in society according to their needs, desires and capacities. Our activities include:
-
Art and craft
-
Sport and exercise
-
Recreational and leisure
-
Social outings
